IETC supports and provides advice to Osaka Prefectural Government's 3R Technology Support Consortium

IETC joins a multi-stakeholder group of private sector groups, eco-town enterprises, universities and research institutions to support and provide advice to the 3R Technology Support Consortium, set up by the Osaka Prefectural Government.

The consortium was set up to enable collaboration between Osaka and cities in developing countries to assist them in facing the grwoing problem of waste, and how to use advanced technology to reduce and recycle waste materials.

IETC has been advising and assisting Osaka in the establishment of the multistakeholder consortium and in investigating the needs of Asian cities. Currently, the Consortium plans to undertake research in P.R. China, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

In 2007, the Consortium plans to expand its activities to further support cities in Asia. Recycling firms and researchers in Osaka will help in preparing educational materials and hands-on exercises to facilitate the transfer of 3R technologies
