GPWM - Meetings

First Consultation Meeting (Geneva, 2009) -  IETC, to support the implementation of UNEP Governing Council decision (GC25/8) on waste management, organized a consultation workshop on 30 November – 1 December 2009 in Geneva and invited major international organizations, donors and the developing countries where IETC is implementing various activities on waste management. The consultation workshop suggested to establish a Global Partnership on Waste Management (GPWM).

Side and Special Events - IETC organized a Special Event on Waste Management, in cooperation with the Government of Indonesia during UNEP Global Ministerial Environmental Forum GCSS-XI/GMEF in Bali on 25 February 2010, and a side event in Geneva at the Open Ended Working Group, (OEWG).  

Presentations - Follow-up discussions and presentations have been held at 3R conferences in Tokyo and Bangkok, and at the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) conference in New York.

Second Consultation Meeting (Osaka, 2010) - IETC co-organized with the Global Environment Centre Foundation (GEC), a second consultation workshop on Waste in Osaka, Japan, on 18-19 November 2010 with the objectives of discussing and finalizing the framework of the GPWM and its implementation strategy, and to launch the GPWM.
